Frequently Asked Questions (or good stuff to mention to parents)

1. When are practice days?
A: mondays & wednesdays, fridays
for sec 1s in junior band, it will just be wednesdays and fridays

2. What do you do during practices?
A: on mondays and wednesdays, we have combined practise with our conductors to go through pieces that we are practising, and on fridays we will be working with our sections on what has been gone through during combines
For the junior band, they will be working with our conductor, Mr Lee, for one of the days and for the other, they will doing self practise to improve on their skills with their seniors

3. What benefit is there in joining band?
A: Band will deduct 2 points off from raw score because not only do we go for competitions every year, everybody will have a chance to lead in band, also we will have a chance to learn a new instrument for free

4. Do you need musical backgroud to join band?
A: not at all, musical background would be helpful in band but we have people that start from scratch and they're doing fine :-)

5. what are the different instruments/sections?
A: flutes, clarinet, saxophone, trumpets, french horn, trombone, euphonium, bassoon, tuba, percussion

6.what are practice timing?
A: 3-6pm on mondays & wednesdays, 3-5.30pm on fridays
For junior band, it will be be from 3-5.30 for wednesdays and fridays

7. Can we choose which instrument we want to play?

A: will most likely be allocated according to ability, discussion made between conductors and seniors for the best possible option for your daughter

*attire: 2018 band tee, school skirt, school socks, single ponytail
