- Bar 3: First note tuning TERRIBLE; LWWS, Clarinets, Saxophones go find time to come together and tune that note with a tuner until it’s PERFECT and you memorize the correct pitch
- Bar 3: It’s only mp, don’t play so loud – especially Baritone Saxophone
- Bar 3: Clarinets > Saxophones for good tone colour
- Bar 3: Piccolo should be above the rest because your dynamic is mf
- Bar 3: Piccolo ad lib. should be more free (try switching octaves, rhythm, dynamics, fluttering – so many things you can do); don’t be so mechanical
- Bar 3: Baritone Sax, very obvious. You cannot hold that long so please stagger with Bass Clarinet but make sure your staggering cannot be heard
- Bar 9: Eupho come in more confidently
- Bar 9: Only one Euphonium play Concert Ab and in tune please
- Bar 16: Oboe, Clarinets and Saxophones listen to 6min 22sec and how horrible the Concert Ab is. Go and tune!
- Bar 18: No break between 2nd and 3rd beats
- Bar 19: Flutes, check your tuning – first Ab minim is FLAT
- Bar 22: T. Sax, 1st Horn and 2nd Trumpet please bring out your moving notes
- Bar 23: NOT SO LOUD! If you play so loud for f, what are you going to play for ff?
- Bar 23: More Flutes and Clarinets but make sure ALL of you are in tune, flutes especially; brasses mf
- Bar 34: All of you anyhow count until you don’t know what you’re playing, can you stay focused and count out with your fingers if you have to
- Bar 34: Flutes please trill more confidently and together; you sound as though you not sure whether to come in or not. Trill louder and with more urgency; Listen to 13min 59sec to 15min 34sec
- Bar 35: Fluboes, LWWS, Clarinets, Saxophones and Euphoniums practice this bar until it’s so together it sounds like only one section of instruments playing
- Bar 36: Brasses and Percussion please help with the sffz
- Bar 36: 3rd Clarinets listen to 15min 50sec to 16min 44sec
- Bar 36 to Bar 47: Clarinets, Saxopones, Fluboes, LWWS -> find time during sectionals and drill this part until all the melody lines interlock smoothly
- Bar 37: 2nd Clarinet please crescendo more
- Bar 38: 3rd Clarinet and 2nd Alto Sax, it’s mp so don’t play so loud
- Bar 41, Bar 44, Bar 45: Clarinets, Saxophones, Fluboes, LWWS
- Crotchets should be held longer not cut off; THIS MISTAKE HAS BEEN SAID COUNTLESS TIMES CAN YOU CHANGE IT ONCE AND FOR ALL
- Bar 47: Running notes practice in your segregated groups (Fluboes + 1st Clarinet + 3rd Clarinet + Tenor Sax + 1st Alto Sax; 2nd Clarinet + 2nd Alto Sax)
- Whole band (especially winds) listen to 21min 35sec; if you guys can’t play your running notes at such a slow tempo how are you going to play at 138BPM
- Bar 70: Trumpets please bring the triplets clearer
- Bar 73: Trumpets + Trombone please bring out your melody
- Gloria listen to 1hr 9min 49sec and 1hr 22min 18sec
- Flutes listen to 1hr 24min 10sec until 1hr 25min 14sec
