Sec4s come at 8am (if you can) report straight to FM studio control room.
The rest of the syf band people come at 9am.
Move to FM by 930am for warm ups. Bring total training lesson 1 and 2. We will be warming up using the entire of both lessons, not just number 1.

You may start to bring your vest for SYF starting tomorrow, but not your whole uniform. We will be wearing our band uniform to school on the day itself.

I'm so sorry I don't have the time to categorise the comments into respective sections, so just read through everything and write down whatever applies to your section okay?

Firstly, SLs, I have sent you guys the recordings. Please send your section the recording now, so that they can spot their mistakes.
The one with "Sarabande full" is the full run through.
The others with "Sarabande part 1" "Sarabande part 2" etc etc, is the whole practice. (It was really long so I had to split it up in a few parts, same goes to Vesuvius.

SARABANDE.

  • Himyola is important, please bring it out
  • Eupho, bass clarinet: almost no tonguing
  • Eupho: take note of phrasing, high notes not too loud, low notes need support
  • Non melody @ 21 second beat not so heavy
  • 85 Eupho, tuba take note of tuning
  • 98 Horns plesae come out at the parts that are your "solo"
  • 99 no accent!!!! diii-> diii-> diii-> Ta!
  • 102 Tuba, LWW, Tbone no accent!
  • BASICALLY THE WHOLE BAND. WHEREVER THERE'S NO ACCENT DON'T ACCENT. THERE AREN'T MANY ACCENTS ANYWAY PLSSS
  • 105 Trumpets and other instruments playing this part: use sighing effect! "dayata"
  • BASICALLY WHEREVER YOU HAVE SIGHS PLEASE PLAY LOUDER ON FIRST NOTE AND SOFTER ON SECOND. NO ACCENTS.
  • 28 Trumpets must practise with metronome because you guys are always late!! Do not lag, air too slow, Hq don't accent when there's no accent
  • EVERYBODY PRACTISE WITH METRONOME. A crotchet to 84
  • Ti-ya-yi Clarinets! not together at beginning
  • Eupho softer @ beginning
  • Clarinets don't slow down at beginning
  • Eupho don't rush
  • Flutes tuning!!!!
  • Before 20 please go softer (esp flutes)
  • 1st clarinet please look up, not following
  • Clarinets don't "du", but "di" sth like that. she mentioned about it
  • Eupho breathing too slow (came in late)

  • BTW WHOLE BAND REMEMBER not to shake your body to feel the beat (lol) cos it'll affect your tuning
  • C major part trumpets please SIGH, 62 no accent, 69 don't slow down, 78 start softer
  • Baritone sax, eupho, 3rd clarinet 90 -> a bit louder, no accent
  • 91 string bass out of tune
  • 102 please play like pick up (those who have)

  • 74 Bassoon high note still a little flat (like when you go up down)
  • 3 bars before 104 euphos and lower brasses dont slow down
  • "oboe solo" louder. yknow those 3 notes

Hey band!

Sectionals tmr on Vesuvius SLOWLY. We're gonna cut people for sarabande for brasses. All trumpets, 4 horns, 2 euphos, 4 trombones, 2 tubas, string bass will play. SLs will choose who to play. Others not in SYF, speech day programme (runaway baby, fanfare from eighties, and another piece we'll confirm soon).

We'll have combine sectionals at 5.20pm to check on cutting down of people for sarabande and transition for Vesuvius.
